EVENTS: Tribute to linguists and their invaluable contribution to the global mission.

At UNITED NATIONS OFFICE IN NAIROBI - Observance at the UN Office in Nairobi of the U.N. Russian Language Day 2025. 

At UNITED NATIONS HQ in New York -The United Nations delegates and staff will observe the day at the United Nations HQ, featuring a documentary on simultaneous interpretation. The DGACM USG Movses Abelian paid tribute to linguists and their invaluable contribution to the global mission.
On June 6th to mark the Russian Language Day 2025, the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, the Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations, the UN DGACM, the Permanent Delegation of Russia to the UNESCO, the United Nations Information Centre, the United Nations Multimedia and all the other United Nations entities will hold a series of virtual events in New York, Geneva and Vienna, including a poetry reading, a literature recital and theatrical performances. At UNESCO HQ -At 3 p.m. Room I opens the doors for Delegations of Member-States, Observer Missions, Secretariat and the guests of UNESCO for an official opening ceremony to be followed by the Gala concert with the participation of soloists, choir, musicians, dancers and ballet artists. From 3:00 pm to 6:45 pm, the Permanent Delegates of the Russian Federation, Armenia Republic, Azerbaijan Republic, Belarus Republic, the Kazakhstan Republic, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Republic will celebrate the anniversary of Alexander Pushkin will participate to a cultural performance and a film screening which demonstrate the role that the Russian language plays in strengthening inter-ethnic communication and intercultural dialogue and showcase efforts and progress made in the sphere of multilingualism within the International Decade of Indigenous Languages. Linguists and interpreters working with the Russian language are welcomed for practical training in the current Russian discourse at the hybrid seminar (Room VIII and online at 10 a.m.). At UN GENEVA - Cultural events, among others, may include the performance of musical and literary works, competitions, exhibitions, lectures, variety performances and performances by cultural figures, national cuisine days and performances by folklore groups, film screenings and express language lessons for those wishing to learn another from the official languages of the United Nations.
