FORUM: “Use the power of books to engage young people as an effective way of skilling up the next generation.” World Book and Copyright Day 2023; For this occasion let’s involve youth and hightlight the Copyright and Related Rights of authors. The UNESCO Regional offices invite students, teachers, and readers from around the world, as well as the whole book industry and library services, to testify and express their love for reading. Other events include readings of books and plays; the distribution of bookmarks; the announcement of the winners of literary competitions. EVENTS: On 23 April, to mark the World Book and Copyright Day 2023; Join the community of readers for the World Book Day bookfaceChallenge! In such circumstances, we invite students, teachers, readers from around the world as well as the book industry and library services to testify and express their love for reading by participing to this challenge. Accra was named UNESCO World Book Capital for 2023. After Guadalajara (Mexico) in 2022, the city of Accra was selected for its strong focus on young people and their potential to contribute to the culture and wealth of Ghana. Accra’s proposed programme seeks to use the power of books to engage these young people, as an effective way of skilling up the next generation. The Accra World Book Capital - Opening Ceremony will be held on 24 April 2023 from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Register to participate to the event.
