FORUM: “Unity in Diversity: Building a Culture of Peace Through Dialogue and Collaboration.” International Day of Living Together in Peace 2025. Heritage, education, culture, social reconstruction and scientific cooperation are truly invaluable cornerstones of peace; a step forward in any one of these areas helps to bring people a step closer together. Collective commitment and solidarity are indispensable in this effort to bring together humanity. Dialogue paves the way for reconciliation, to moving from a divided past towards a shared future. We need a globalization of solidarity and compassion instead the normalization of division and hatred. We need a new narrative to address the current global context. One that is people-centered focusing on the vulnerable. We need to rebuild trust and restore solidarity. EVENT: On May 16th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the United Nations Headquarters, Conference Room 7 in New York City, NY will be held the celebration of the International Day of Living Together in Peace 2025 under the theme ''Unity in Diversity: Building a Culture of Peace Through Dialogue and Collaboration;''.

The COJEP International and A Time for Truth Foundation welcome you to celebrate the “ International Day of Living Together in Peace. This day for humanity was established by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution A/RES/72/130 in 2017; A day dedicated to promoting peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding, and solidarity among individuals and nations, which serves as a reminder of the universal aspiration for peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and reconciliation. In 2025, observance gains particular urgency against the backdrop of rising global conflict, polarization, and environmental challenges that threaten humanity’s shared future. In this context, COJEP International and A Time for Truth Foundation, will convene a high-level forum at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to amplify voices for peace, intercultural dialogue, and global partnership. The conference will celebrate this day by fostering multilateral cooperation among humanitarian, scientific, governmental, and civil society actors to uphold and advance fundamental human rights, including freedom of spiritual and religious belief. 

The forum seeks to address key issues, including:

• Protection of fundamental human rights, particularly the freedom of spiritual and religious belief 
• The role of structured, accessible education systems in promoting peaceful coexistence 
• Integration of quantum science to enhance global communication 
• The importance of maternal and family stability in addressing human rights challenges, religious decline, and global crises such as drug abuse, terrorism, and armed conflict 

Furthermore, the Summit will reaffirm commitments to justice, equality, and well-being of communities worldwide, contributing to the advancement of the United Nations' humanitarian mission and the sustainable development agenda. 

Event Overview: This year's gathering aims to present key findings from global initiatives and foster multilateral cooperation among humanitarian, scientific, governmental, and civil society actors. Through the collaborative efforts of the COJEP International and A Time for Truth Foundation , the summit will address global challenges and work toward advancing justice, equality, and peace.

Discussions will focus on: * Protection of fundamental human rights * The necessity of inclusive, well-structured education systems * Leveraging quantum science to improve global communication * Addressing human rights violations and global crises through family stability.

By reaffirming our collective commitment to justice and equality, the forum will contribute directly to the advancement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16.

This gathering provides an opportunity for interchange between distinguished leaders, high-ranking government officials, youth coalitions, healthcare professionals, scientists, athletes, diplomats, representatives of non-governmental organizations, media professionals, and national artists.  FORUM: “Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals.” International Day of Peace 2023. This year’s theme is a call to action to recognize our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace. Fostering peace contributes to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will create a culture of peace for all. EVENTS: Peace Bell Ceremony on the Occasion of the 42nd Anniversary of the International Day of Peace at United Nations Headquarters. The programme will begin with the traditional Peace Bell Ceremony in the Peace Garden at 9:00 a.m. EDT. At that event, the U.N. Secretary-General and the General Assembly President will ring the Peace Bell. 

The International Day of Peace Youth Event 2023 's theme, "Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals," underscores the imperative for both individual and collective responsibility in urgently nurturing peace.

In his message for the International Day of Peace on September 21, 2023, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres highlighted the crises facing both people and the planet, including conflicts leading to significant displacements, severe natural disasters like fires and floods, rising temperatures, and persisting issues related to poverty, inequality, and injustice. Additionally, he noted the presence of mistrust, division, and prejudice in contemporary society. The Secretary-General emphasized the core theme of this year's International Day of Peace, stressing that peace is not a passive state but a consequence of deliberate actions. He called for proactive measures to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring inclusivity and equity. Moreover, he advocated for action to combat the ongoing environmental crisis, safeguard natural resources, and protect human rights and dignity, especially as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights celebrated its 75th anniversary. The Secretary-General highlighted the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and collaboration in diffusing tensions and resolving conflicts, issuing a compelling call for global commitment to actively promote and maintain peace for the benefit of all humanity.

International Day for Tolerance 2022, Novembe 16th.

 FORUM:  ‘‘Redefine Tolerance'.’’ International Day for Tolerance 2022. Tolerance is much more than passively accepting the other. It brings obligations to act, and must be taught, nurtured and defended. Tolerance requires investment by States in people, and in the fulfilment of their full potential through education, inclusion and opportunities. This means building societies founded on respect for human rights, where fear, distrust and marginalization are supplanted by pluralism, participation and respect for differences. EVENTS: 2022 UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence. In 1995, to mark the United Nations Year for Tolerance and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, UNESCO created a prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence: the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize. This Prize rewards significant activities in the scientific, artistic, cultural or communication fields aimed at the promotion of a spirit of tolerance and non-violence. The creation of the Prize has been inspired by the ideals of UNESCO’s Constitution that proclaims that "peace, if it is not to fail, must be founded on the intellectual and moral solidarity of mankind".

History of the Day

In 1996, the United Nations General Assembly (by resolution 51/95) invited UN Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on November 16th, with activities directed towards both educational establishments and the wider public. 

International Day of Non-Violence 2022; October 2nd.

FORUM: "Celebrate non-violence and the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi." Internationa Day of Non-Violence 2022.

ACTIONS FOR NON-VIOLENCE

There are three main categories of non-violence action:

1. protest and persuasion, including marches and vigils;
2. non-cooperation; and
3. non-violent intervention, such as blockades and occupations.

On the occasion of the Internationa Day of Non-Violence 2022, the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations will host a special event on 2 October at UN Headquarters, where the President of the 77th session of the General Assembly, and the United Nations Secretary-General, will join UN delegations, staff and guests to celebrate non-violence and the 153th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

To commemorate the 153rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Consulate General of India in Istanbul in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations are organising the virtual narration of 'Mahatma Gandhi's Global Leadership for Peace, Non-Violence & Satyagraha' by Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna on Sunday, 02 October 2022 at 11.00 AM (Turkey Standard Time).

As part of India@75 Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Embassy of India in Ljubljana presents another event from the series of online talks on special days/events related to Mahatma Gandhi and other prominent leaders conducted by Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna from Gandhian Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The talk titled ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Global Leadership for Peace, Non-Violence, and Satyagraha' will be premiered on the India in Slovenia Youtube page on Sunday, 02 October 2022 at 1900 hrs, to commemorate the 153rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

FORUM: "End racism. Build peace." International Day of Peace 2022.

The 2022 theme for the International Day of Peace is “End racism. Build peace.” We invite you to join the efforts of the United Nations as we work towards a world free of racism and racial discrimination. A world where compassion and empathy overcome suspicion and hatred. A world that we can truly be proud of.

  

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. But achieving true peace entails much more than laying down arms. It requires the building of societies where all members feel that they can flourish. It involves creating a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their race.


As conflicts continue to erupt across the globe, causing people to flee, we have seen race-based discrimination at borders. As COVID-19 keeps attacking our communities, we have seen how certain racial groups have been hit much harder than others. As economies suffer, we have seen hate speech and violence directed at racial minorities. We all have a role to play in fostering peace. And tackling racism is a crucial way to contribute.


We can work to dismantle the structures that entrench racism in our midst. We can support movements for equality and human rights everywhere. We can speak out against hate speech – both offline and online. We can promote anti-racism through education and reparatory justice.

Statement by the U.N. Secretar -General on International Day of Peace 2022,


Peace is a noble and necessary pursuit, and the only practical pathway to a better, fairer world for all people.

Yet in too many places, in too many contexts, we are failing the cause of peace.

The theme of this year’s International Day of Peace — “End Racism. Build Peace.” — reminds us of the many ways racism poisons people’s hearts and minds and erodes the peace we all seek.

Racism robs people of their rights and dignity. It inflames inequalities and mistrust. And it pushes people apart, at a time when we should be coming together, as one human family, to repair our fractured world.

Instead of fighting each other, we should be working to defeat our true enemies: racism, poverty, inequality, conflict, the climate crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

We should tear down structures that sustain racism, and lift up human rights movements everywhere.

And we should drown out the vicious voices of hate speech with a united and sustained cry for truth, understanding and mutual respect.

On this important day, a time to observe 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire, we renew our call for all people to do more than lay down their weapons.



We call on them to re-affirm the bonds of solidarity we share as human beings and get down to the business of building a better, more peaceful world.

Every year on 21 September, the United Nations calls on all people to lay down weapons and reaffirm their commitment to living in harmony with one another.

Today, as we mark the 100-day countdown to the International Day of Peace, this shared aspiration is more pressing than ever.

This year’s theme is “End racism. Build peace.” Racism poisons societies, normalizes discrimination and spurs violence. We must fight it by countering hate speech, promoting dialogue and addressing the root causes of inequality.

Over the next 100 days and beyond, let us work to safeguard the human rights of all people and build peaceful and inclusive societies. Together, we can realize the vision of a world free of racism and racial discrimination. António Guterres.


EVENTS:  The International Day of Peace will be observed on 16 September 2022 at United Nations Headquarters. The programme will begin with the traditional Peace Bell Ceremony in the Peace Garden at 9:00 a.m. EDT. At that event, the Secretary-General and President of the General Assembly will ring the Peace Bell. Following that, a Youth Observance will be held in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber at 9:30 a.m. EDT, in which more than 500 students will interact with the Secretary-General and high-profile artists and activists. Young people will present projects that illustrate the action they have taken to combat racism and thereby foster peace. Both events will be broadcast live and on demand. International Day of Conscience 2022; April 5th.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 5 April as the International Day of Conscience.

Conscious of the need for the creation of conditions of stability and well-being and peaceful and friendly relations based on respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion.
